Safeguarding Guidelines
-
The wellbeing of every child is our top priority.
-
Children must always be supervised by a responsible adult (staff, parent, or guardian).
-
No child will be left alone with a single adult.
-
MK Art Clubs tutors and volunteers working directly with children will have a clear and up to date enhanced DBS certification.
-
A Designated Safeguarding Lead will be identified and must be either present or contactable during every session.
-
All art materials used must be age-appropriate and non-toxic.
-
Scissors and other sharp tools will only be provided under strict supervision.
-
Children must remain in the designated workshop areas.
-
Venue staff must make tutors and children aware of emergency exits and first aid procedures.
-
Parents/guardians must book their child into the art session and must produce a ticket or confirmation email as proof of their booking.
-
Only authorised parents/guardians may collect a child.
-
Children will not be released to anyone under 16 years old.
-
We encourage respect, and inclusion in every class.
-
We will take every measure to manage and resolve incidents of dangerous or inappropriate behavior and bullying. Where such behavior is seen to be intentional and persistent, we will apply a zero tolerance policy.
-
If a child feels uncomfortable or worried, they are encouraged to speak to a staff member immediately.
-
Photos of children will only be taken with the parents’ consent.
-
Images will never include names or identifying details when used for MK Art Club promotion.
-
Parents can take photos of their own children but should avoid capturing others without permission.
-
Any safeguarding concerns must be reported immediately to the Designated Safeguarding Lead.
-
Concerns will be taken seriously, recorded, and followed up in line with safeguarding procedures.
